Padma Lakshmi Bio

Padma Parvati Lakshmi, a daughter of Padma Parvati Lakshmi, was born in Chennai, India, on September 1st 1970. Lakshmi was divorced by her parents at the age of two years old. Her mother moved to the United States to escape the stigma of divorce in India. Lakshmi stayed with her maternal grandparents in Chennai for two years prior to moving to the United States. There is a younger half-brother from her father's side and an older sister. Both her parents later divorced. Lakshmi is the descendant of Hindu goddess of prosperity and wealth She grew up in New York City and Los Angeles. Her family visited her in India often throughout the year, and returned for several months. Padma Lakshmi began to be interested in acting in 1999. Her first role was in "Figlio di Sandokan," an Italian pirate film. Then, she was an important role in 'Caraibi' (Pirates Blood Brothers), the drama about pirates of the 17th century. In 2001, she portrayed a humorous supporting role in the American movie 'Glitter, in which she was a disco-singing singer. Padma has a daughter named Krishna Thea Lakshmi-Dell with Adam Dell, a venture capitalist. Krishna was born on the 20th of February 2010, at the age of 20. She also dated Teddy Forstmann (ex-chairman, CEO of IMG). Lakshmi has a child with American venture capitalist Adam Dell. Lakshmi has since disclosed that the baby's father was Dell however, she initially kept the identity of Dell a secret. "Everything is better with her around," she said of her daughter. "Anything from the morning until night. I can't concentrate on anything else.
