Summer Bishil Bio

Summer Bishil was raised in Pasadena (California). She and her family moved to the United States when she was just three. Summer was a student at American and British schools while her family was in Europe. They returned home to Pasadena California, just short of her fourteenth birthday. Summer was infatuated with the idea that she would one day be an actor from the age of five she took her first acting course at age 14. Nine months later, she was signed by an agent and an manager and began to pursue her dreams full-time. She attends college on weekends, and works towards her degree. One of the young stars that were featured in Vanity Fair's cover article, "Hollywood's New Wave: The Hottest Kids in Hollywood" in August 2008.Was selected as one of the "Ten Actors to Watch" by Variety (2007).Nominee for Best Actress - Spirit Award. Bishil began her acting classes at age 14 years old. Within one year Bishil was offered an agreement by a manager or agency. The first time she appeared in the short-lived Nickelodeon show Just for Kicks, followed by appearances on a variety of other children's shows.Bishil's first big break came when she played the lead character in Alan Ball's film Towelhead in 2007 as an adaptation of the novel with the same title. Slate critic Dana Stevens said, "Her performance is the most authentic in a film which, in spite of its noble intentions, feels thoroughly phony and mildly embarrassing, like an extended PSA about inappropriate touching." Bob Strauss writes for many Los Angeles newspapers and states that Bishil "...is the top natural film actresses of all time. In the September 12 Los Angeles Times review, Gary Goldstein stated that Summer Bishil is an unproven "...newcomer, gives an enthralling and confident performance as Jasira. "In 2009, she made Wayne Kramer's new project, Crossing Over, starring Harrison Ford, Ray Liotta and Ashley Judd, a portrayal which received some praise from Associated Press's Jay Reiner. She was chosen to play Azula in M. Night Shyamalan's 2010 film The Last Airbender. This was to be the primary subject of the planned but never made sequel.
