Sarah Hyland

Sarah Hyland was born to actresses Melissa D. Canaday, and Edward James Hyland in New York City. At the age of 4, she started in the industry by doing voice overs as well as commercial work. The first film she made was Private Parts (1997). After that, she starred in The Object of My Affection (1998) followed by time in Another World (1964) as "Rain Wolfe" as a child found in the park, and fostered by Josie and Gary. Sarah was able to continue working alongside Amy Carlson ("Josie") at least twice: Falcone (2000) and Law & Order (1990) in addition to Law & Order: Trial by Jury (2005). Sarah was cast in Jennifer Love Hewitt's The Audrey Hepburn Story(2000) as one of the Audrey Hepburns. The next year, she was cast in ABC's The Wonderful World of Disney: Annie (1999), with Audra McDonald, Victor Garber, Kristin Chernoweth, Joe Gould’s Secret ((2000) and Falcone ((2000)). Aside from all of her work in television and film, Sarah studied voice, hip-hop, ballet, jazz and tap Theatre Dance, and performed with her tap and Theatre dance classes in "Reel to Real" at Lincoln Center as invited performers.A New York-born and raised girl, Sarah spent much of her time working in television, film, as well as voicing a number of radio ads in addition to traveling with her father, Edward James Hyland, as he worked in many different theaters in the country. As a child, she was home-schooled. mother, she attended public school through second grade. She was accepted into PPAS in 6th grade. The school was where she remained until her graduation in the year 2008. When Sarah reached the age of 18, she moved to Los Angeles, CA and within two weeks she had been able to land a plane named "My American Family". After she was accepted, the pilot's name changed to Modern Family (2009). Sarah is currently playing Haley Dunphy, the oldest Dunphy child. Modern Family (2009) was nominated for the Emmy award for Outstanding Comedy Series.
