Pom Klementieff

Pom Klementieff (born 3 May 1986) is a French actress from France. She attended the Cours Florent drama school, Paris. She has been in films such as Loup 2009, Sleepless Night 2011 and Hacker's Game 2015. She plays the Mantis character in the Marvel Cinematic Universe film Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 (2017), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), and Avengers: Endgame (1999). Pom Klementieff was born in Quebec City, Canada, to her Korean mother and a French-Russian father who was employed as a consul in the French government. Eugene Klementieff was her grandfather. Since it sounds like the Korean words for "spring" or "tiger", her parents named their daughter Pom. Klementieff was a Canadian citizen for a single year. Her family had travelled extensively as a result of her father's work. They resided in Japan as well as the Ivory Coast, before settling in France. Klementieff lost her father to cancer at the age of five. Her mother was also diagnosed with schizophrenia. Klementieff was raised in France by her aunt and paternal uncle. Her uncle, who she described as "like [her] father" died when she was 18 years old. Her brother, who was older who took his own life seven years later, was her aunt. Klementieff was able to briefly go to law school following the passing of her uncle, but she didn't find the career path appealing. Also, she worked as an waitress in France as well as a salesperson. She began acting when she was 19, at the Cours Florent theatre school in Paris. It was only three months into studying when she was awarded the competition to be a part of the theater that provided her free two-years of classes with the top teachers in the school. The first role she had in professional acting was in the French independent film Apres lui (2007), acting as the stepdaughter in the film of the main character, which was played by Catherine Deneuve. Filming for her scenes was a three-day process. In one scene, Klementieff was supposed to push a person down the stairs but fell down the steps herself, and director Gael Morel filmed that scene in the film. Her first leading role was in Loup (2009) A French film about a tribe of reindeer herders living in the Siberian mountains. The actress filmed for hours in a camp that was far from the closest village. Temperatures dropped to minus zero when filming.
