Padma Lakshmi Bio
Padma Parvati Lakshmi, a daughter of Padma Parvati Lakshmi, was born in Chennai, India, on September 1st 1970. Lakshmi was divorced by her parents at the age of two years old. Her mother moved to the United States to escape the stigma of divorce in India. Lakshmi stayed with her maternal grandparents in Chennai for two years prior to moving to the United States. There is a younger half-brother from her father's side and an older sister. Both her parents later divorced. Lakshmi is the descendant of Hindu goddess of prosperity and wealth She grew up in New York City and Los Angeles. Her family visited her in India often throughout the year, and returned for several months. Padma Lakshmi began to be interested in acting in 1999.
